The University of Alberta presents:
Professor Hironari Yamada Department of Photonics and Department of Biology and Technology Ritsumeikan University Mirrorcle: A Benchtop Synchrotron for Life Science Research Tuesday, June 17, 11:00 a.m. Room E3-25 Chemistry Centre
Dr. Yamada and collaborators at Ritsumeikan University Quantum Beam Science
Laboratory have developed a tabletop synchrotron that produces intense photon
beams ranging from X-rays to the far infrared. The radiation is of sufficient
intensity to be used for a wide variety of life science studies, as well as for
environmental and ecological applications. His talk will describe the design of
the machine and discuss a number of potential applications.
